The course is designed to give you a comprehensive foundation in both drawing and painting, with a focus on realistic techniques and natural subjects like botanicals, flowers, fruits and vegetables, mushrooms, insects, birds, animals, and landscapes.
For the drawing part, you’ll learn to work with graphite pencils, soft materials such as sepia and charcoal, as well as permanent tools like fine liners and Micron pens. The lessons are structured to help you build confidence and precision, whether you’re sketching loosely or creating more detailed, time-intensive studies.
As for painting, the course focuses primarily on watercolor. This medium is ideal for both beginners and more experienced artists — it’s affordable, doesn’t require a dedicated workspace, and is easy to carry around, making it perfect for painting at your kitchen table or while traveling. Watercolor is also incredibly versatile and expressive, allowing you to explore both delicate detail and looser, more intuitive techniques.
Throughout the course, you'll work from both life and reference photos, and you’ll explore a range of styles — from quick, expressive sketches and paintings to more refined and realistic pieces — helping you develop both technical skills and personal expression.
In Module 4: Unlock Your Creativity, we take things further by experimenting with other mediums and non-traditional materials. You won’t need to purchase anything special for this — you can simply use what you already have at home. But if you’re curious to try something new, it’s a great opportunity to explore and play.
Even though watercolor is the main painting medium used in demonstrations, the foundational skills taught in Module 1 — like composition, shading, color theory, and visual planning — are applicable to any medium, so you can adapt and grow your practice in whatever direction feels right for you.
