ANDREIA MELO

Artist, pattern designer, owner of Niutrik

Based in Porto, Andreia began her career as an engineer and team leader, but soon realized the corporate world wasn’t fulfilling. In 2018—the year her poodle Rigby was born and became both companion and muse—she dedicated herself to illustration. By 2020, she had transitioned into a full-time professional artist. After participating in the Make Art With Confidence mentorship edition, Andreia is now on the other side of the program as a community manager, supporting other students on their creative journeys.

Andreia's work blends painting, illustration, and design, with watercolor and gouache as her preferred techniques and digital tools as a complement. To date, Andreia has illustrated three children’s books, taken part in both group and solo exhibitions, and founded Niutrik, a Portuguese brand of pet accessories entirely designed and illustrated by her.

VALENTINA ARROS

Natural science illustrator

After earning her Master of Science in Sustainable Resource Management from the Technical University of Munich, with an award-winning thesis on optimizing interpretive signage to help protect endangered species, Valentina decided to pursue a full-time career as a Natural Science illustrator and visual communicator, driven by a passion for bringing people closer to nature. She joined the Make Art With Confidence mentorship to refine her watercolor painting skills and gain insights into the business side of being an artist.

I HAVE COMMISSIONS LIGNED UP FOR MONTHS AHEAD.

Since then, Valentina has collaborated with a wide range of prestigious organizations, including universities, research institutes, NGOs, museums, and private companies. Her art combines thorough research on species with a strong focus on her clients’ communication goals, delivering messages that are both clear and visually engaging.

KRISTEN BROOKE

Nature inspired artist

Based in Chicago, Kristen creates paintings with water-based mediums that capture the beauty of the natural world. Her love for painting began in childhood with watercolors and grew alongside a passion for wilderness adventures. In 2020, this passion was reignited, leading to the exploration of gouache, sketchbooks, and plein air painting. Kristen joined the mentorship edition of Make Art With Confidence to enhance her skills, build her portfolio, and connect with other creatives who share her values.

NOTHING MAKES ME HAPPIER THAN PAINTING.

So far, Kristen has completed several series inspired by the grandeur of nature, including her Giant Sequoia series and other works that celebrate the natural world. Alongside painting, she is a pianist, nature photographer, and avid explorer, nurturing dreams of one day living in a cabin in the woods. Recently, she launched a YouTube channel to share her artistic journey, attracting a responsive and enthusiastic audience that connects deeply with her work.

NEHAL RATHOD

Visual artist

After earning a degree in computer engineering and spending over eight years teaching in the field, becoming a mother inspired Nehal to reconnect with her creative side. Seeking a more present and fulfilling path, she turned to visual art, studying both practice and the business of creativity through the Make Art With Confidence mentorship course. In 2024, she launched Nehal Art Studio and began selling her work online, offering a window into her world through her art.

Based in Mumbai, Nehal creates meditative ink works that explore quiet minimalism and emotional depth. Her visual language combines stippling, line drawing, and a focus on presence over control, often depicting intricate tree rings symbolizing time and memory. Her work has been featured in several exhibitions, including a prestigious art fair in Mumbai, and is now held in private collections around the world.
